  • Intramolecular C-X activation in molecular compounds of Mn(I) (X = H or Cl), Ru(II), (X = H), Ni(0) (X = F, Cl or Br), Pd(0) (X = Cl), Pd(II) (X = H or O), Pt(0) (X = H, F, Cl or Br) and Pt(II) (X = H, F, Cl, Br or I): Applications in organometallic and organic synthesis.   • Crystal structures of cyclometallated compounds and related compounds. Developed in collaboration with Drs M. Font-Bardia (Scientific-Technical Services UB), X. Solans (Crystallography Department UB), C. Puerta and P. Valerga (Cádiz Univesity), and L. Barrios (Inorganic Chemistry Section UB).
  • Reactions of cyclometallation at Pd(II) and Pt(II) centres and  of oxidative addition at Pt(II) centres: Reaction kinetics and activation parameters. Developed in collaboration with Drs M. Martínez (Inorganic Chemistry Section UB) and M. Gómez (Université Tolouse-3, Paul Sabatier).
  • Optical resolution of chiral phosphines by optically active cyclometallated palladium(II) compounds. Developed in collaboration with Drs G. Muller, D. Sainz and M. Rocamora (Inorganic Chemistry Section UB).
  • Electrochemistry of Pt(II) and Pt(IV) cyclometallated compounds. Developed in collaboration with Dr A. Klein (Institut für Anorganische Chemie der Universität Stuttgart) and C. López (Inorganic Chemistry Section UB).
  • Computational studies: Geometry optimization of Pd(II), Pt(II) and Pt(IV) molecular compounds and of cyclometallation reactions transition states at Pd(II) centres. Developed in collaboration with Drs R. Bosque and G. Aullón (Inorganic Chemistry Section UB).
  • Catalytic functionalization of C-H bonds by directing groups and Pd(0) or Pd(II) catalysts. Developed in collaboration with Drs J. García, X. Ariza, E. Nicolás and J. Farrŕs (Organic Chemistry Section UB).
  • Cyclometallated Pd(II), Pt(II) and Pt(IV) compounds: Cytotoxicity. Developed in collaboration with Drs M. Cascante (Biochemistry and Molecular Biomedicine Department UB), R. Messeguer (LEITAT) and J. Quirante (Pharmacology, Toxicology and Therapeutic Chemistry Department UB). Cell cycle arrest, apoptosis and ROS (reactive oxygen species). Developed in collaboration with Drs M. Cascante (Biochemistry and Molecular Biomedicine Department UB) and J. Quirante (Pharmacology, Toxicology and Therapeutic Chemistry Department UB). Interaction with DNA and enzymes. Developed in collaboration with Drs L. Baldomŕ and J. Badia (Biochemistry and Physiology Department UB) and J.   • Luminescent Pd(II), Pt(II) and Pt(IV) cyclometallated compounds. Developed in collaboration with Dr L. Rodríguez (Inorganic Chemistry Section UB).
  • Pd(II) cyclometallated compounds antibacterial and antioxidant activity in vitro. Developed in collaboration with Dr K. Khosa (GC University Faisalabad).
  • Application of cyclometallated Ru(II) compounds derived from optically active imines in asymmetric catalysis. Developed in collaboration with Dr A. Grabulosa (Inorganic Chemistry Section UB).
